In September 2011, the Indian media reported that “Mahesh Bhutt” and Bushan Kumaar were keen to remake the 1990 musical blockbuster “Aashique” Kumar approached Bhatt for a possible sequel, although it was Shagufta Rafique melodramatic romantic script which persuaded him that the film had potential as a sequel and decided to proceed with the project. Given Aashiqui's status in Hindi cinematic history as one of the finest Indian musicals of all time, Songs of Aashique are the best Old Indian songs, many expressed concerns towards the decision to remake the film, dubious that the producers could come up with a soundtrack on par with the quality of the 1990 film. Bhatt stated that they completely resisted the temptation to use the soundtrack of the earlier film, and promised that Aashiqui 2would revive the era of melodious film music, as Aashiqui had done 22 years ago.
Sharddha Kapoor secure his fututureKapoor next reunited with Suri for the thriller Ek Villan (2014), for which she also sang the song "Galliyan".The film tells the story of a hardened criminal (played by sidharth Malotra whose terminally ill wife (played by Kapoor) is brutally murdered by a serial killer. The film was generally perceived to be plagiarised from the Korean film I saw the devil although Suri claimed that it was an original film. In her review, Raedita Tandon of film fare called the film a "gritty, engaging thriller", and stated that Kapoor was a revelation in it. Critic Mohar Basu noted, "Shraddha Kapoor ....... fits into her character very neatly and does a stellar job. Her chemistry with Sidharth is dreamy and memorable." and also stated that," Convulsing in her near death throes, Shraddha stole the scene and heightened the impact manifolds."
